Wodonga Titles Q&A: Liam Morey
Posted on 08 June 2008

We catch up with Rookie sensation Liam Morey in the lead up to the $5,000 Gold Rush City of Wodonga Titles.

Q: Liam you've been on the podium every meeting this year, you've won the Top Gun Series and you're leading both the All Stars and the Golden Power series. Has it been as easy as you make it look?
Liam Morey:  No it hasn’t been easy. This year a lot of work has gone into kart set up, engine development and driver development. I must thank Clint, Pete and Jill Cathcart (CC Racing) for all my success this year.

Q: How long have you been driving for CC Racing? What’s the team atmosphere like and how does it help your racing?
LM: It’s been a year and a half now. I’ve been with CC Racing since the start of the 2007 season. The atmosphere is great, the help and support you get from other drivers and pit crew in the team is unbelievable. Clint Cathcart has put a lot of time into improving my race craft, which is showing in my results so far this year.

Q: You won at Wodonga this time last year, what do you think of the track?
LM: The track is one of my favourites. It’s got a bit of everything, tight turns, flowing turns and a sweeper at the start of the straight, which you have to get right to get a good lap time.

Q: What are your goals for the rest of the year, a blue plate maybe?
LM: Definitely (a blue plate), but they are so hard to win, it is just one race and you have to get it right. I will be doing the Qld, NSW, SA and Tassie State Titles this year (budget allowing).

Q: What would you like to be driving in the future? V8s, F1?
LM:  I would like to race overseas in karts, then step up to open wheelers maybe Formula3 or Formula BMW.

Q: Lastly Liam. Do you have a routine when you are gridding up for a race?
TW: Yes I do, I like to visualize the start of the race, how I’m going to attack the first lap (this is the most important lap of a race) then get into a race grove as quick as possible.

Thanks Liam. Hope to see you sporting a blue plate before the end of the year and we look forward to seeing you next weekend at the $5,000 Gold Rush City of Wodonga Titles.
