Butcher To Return To USA
Posted on 05 June 2008

Local karter Bronson Butcher will be returning to the USA in August to race Legends cars in Las Vegas. Butcher, who turns 15 in two weeks time, will compete at ‘The Bullring’ which is a 3/8th mile asphalt speedway and part of the massive Las Vegas Motor Speedway complex.

Bronson raced in the United States in October 2006, the highlight being a victory on the Arizona Karting Association dirt speedway, but also included his first races in a Junior Rotax and at another meeting, in a Junior Leopard, both being in the Junior Tag class.

“We were looking at the possibility of going over and doing more karting in 2009” Bronson said, “when a friend there suggested looking into racing the Legends cars. These cars are very similar to the Aussie Racing Cars and in the process of making enquiries, I was offered the drive in the Spencer Clark Driven Foundation car for CRG Motorsports in Las Vegas. Their operation manages a number of cars in several classes on the short circuit speedways around Las Vegas.”

It came up in a bit of a rush but the opportunity being what it is and the prospect of rising flight prices and the dollar etc. makes it worth the effort to go now. “The whole idea of this trip is quite exciting and I am eagerly looking forward to the experience” said an enthusiastic Bronson “we will have a day in the car prior to our first race.”

Next kart meeting for Bronson is the City of Wodonga Titles on June 14 and 15 at Wodonga, which is the biggest meeting of the year in the region and Bronson will be racing in 2 classes, including the Junior National Light class which he won in this event last year. Big fields – including national and international representatives - and sizzling racing, is expected as the top point scoring junior will receive $2000 and top scoring senior $3000.
