Swiss Hutless takes Title on Debut
Posted on 22 September 2008

Swiss Hutless has made a stellar comeback to Australian soil, claiming victory at the Australasian Kart Titles held at the Goulburn Valley Kart Club over the weekend.

Piloted by 18-year old Albury driver Bret Mullavey, the Swiss Hutless claimed the Clubman Pro title as well as a close second in Clubman Light, both near capacity fields.

The event seemed to be a perfect debut for the Swiss Hutless kart, as the track offering a technical layout, incorporated with large fields ensured very competitive racing.

After a solid run through the heats, Bret was able to position himself well for a shot at the title in Clubman Pro. “I knew I had to be on the first two rows to give myself a chance to win. It’s very had to pull back any break away at the Goulburn Valley track so starting third for the final was a good position I felt,” he said. “I managed to get the lead with 6 laps to go and was able to open a slight advantage which I held to the end”.

The Clubman Light final was an intense race long battle between a 4 kart break away. After starting the final from pole position, Bret was able to lead the start of the race before a long battle with Toby Pope, Justin Carter and Mitchell McLeod, with Toby Pope finally taking victory.

“I was really happy with the debut of the Swiss Hutless chassis in Australia once again. The kart responded great to changes. I really didn’t expect the kart to have the pace it did.” Bret stated after the event. “Hopefully now we can keep building on our result and continue to develop the kart”

The Swiss Hutless Australia team will now spend some further time on testing and development before heading to the Southern Classic at Oakleigh Kart Club.
