Raising Money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation

The Combined District Kart Club raised over $10,000 at the Inaugural Ladies Special Go Kart Event in January 2007 and will be back again to raise more funds for breast cancer research with their next Ladies Day in January 2008.

On Sunday 27 January 2008 Ron & Joan Harradine, Russell Grimson, Lilian Stones and Cheryl Lee of the Combined District Kart Club Inc are organizing for the second year, the Ladies Special Go Kart Event to help raise funds and awareness about the importance of research in finding the cure finding the cause.

Ron and Russell are the only two Life Members of the NSW State Karting Council and are two of the most experienced officials of the karting organization in NSW. Both have been touched by breast cancer. The members of Combined District Kart Club and the karting fraternity are fully supportive of this Special Event.

The Go Kart race meeting will be held at Lithgow City Raceway for women and girls only on Sunday the 27th January 2008. The race day will kick off with a charity reunion dinner for lady karters and there families and the crowning of the Go kart Charity Queen at the Lithgow workers Club Tank St Lithgow on Saturday the 26th of January 2008.

Proceeds are being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to supporting and promoting high quality research into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

The Foundation is committed to funding high quality research responsive to the needs and interests of women affected by breast cancer. Since being established in 1994, the Foundation has awarded more than $22 million to 133 breast cancer research projects across Australia.

Initiatives such as the “Ladies Special Go Kart Event” make a vital contribution towards allowing the Foundation to continue its work.

By attending the “Ladies Special Go Kart Event” and buying a pink ribbon or wristband, you have the chance to make a real difference too many people’s lives – men, women and children!
